Résumé
Smart home has been a very active area of research through the last two decades, which resulted into various applications and philosophies of implementation and design. In particular, it has been seen as a way to enhance the quality of life of residents by automating daily tasks, optimizing power consumption and providing assistance in their daily life activities. In this book chapter, we explore two important themes. The first one is the emerging ideas and applications related to smart homes in the context of Big Data. The second theme covers the most important challenges smart homes researchers will be facing in the advent of Big Data.
