Résumé
The positive correlations between S and Au, Bi, Cd, Cu, Ni and Se in the Lower Banded series of the Stillwater Complex indicate that the magma was sulphide saturated throughout the series. Low S/Se ratios in rocks with <500 ppm S imply some S loss. The PGE are depleted in the rocks above the reef but are relatively enriched in the rocks below the reef. In terms of PGE ratios, the JM-reef resembles the Noril’sk 1 disseminated sulphides more than reefs such as the Merensky Reef, even though the PGE/S ratios of the JM-reef are much higher than those of Noril’sk.
